Hedgehog Cacti (Echinocereus)

Echinocereus, usually a dense small to medium-sized cylindrical cacti, comprising about 70 species native to the southern United States and Mexico in very sunny rocky places.

Usually, the flowers are large and the fruit edible. Requires very low water and full sun plant if rock, sandy and well-drained soil. Works well planted from at no higher than 7000 elevation.
