Question of the Week 04/18/2020

Q: I have a Blue Mist Spirea that I have had for over 15 years by my back porch. It isn't looking as good as it used to. Does it just need fertilizer and more water to make it look better?

A: Unfortunately, plants get old just like we do. Although it is hard to say how long a plant will thrive for (each plant has its own unique set of genetics) 15 years is a pretty good run for a shrub. Fertilizing is always a good thing and if its dry, more water may help, but more than likely the plant will need to be replaced.
