Silver Buffaloberry Shepherdia argentea Zone3-8 Thin, silver-blue foliage gives this shrub its stand out look. Female plants produce bright red berries that are edible (just don’t eat too many) and can be used to make jelly or wine. Male plants produce flowers that don't have petals. Berries also attract birds. A hardy shrub but does better with regular watering. Be mindful of thorns that grow on the branches. This is a unique shrub that can pull nitrogen from the air and convert it to a usable fertilizer for the plant.Plant close together to form a hedge.
