Working With A Landscaping Company?

Happy New Year from Desert Rose! Our first blog of the year is going to review how to make the process of working with a landscape company as smooth as possible. This blog was inspired by an inquiry from a client, and we think it is a great question that can make the entire project less stressful and more enjoyable for both the client and the landscaper.

It can be a stressful process for a client to reach out to a professional company to landscape their yard for a variety of reasons. Perhaps the client doesn’t know much about plants or landscape design, or maybe they have a Masters in Landscape Architecture - either way, it is essential that the client and the company have a good relationship so the client feels satisfied with both their yard and the customer service.

Phil has been landscaping yards for 23 years and has had his fair share of clients, both those that have been challenging to work for, as well as clients that have evolved into lifelong friends. One of the most important things to remember is that a landscaped yard is a living ecosystem with a huge amount of moving parts. Rain, sun, wind, microclimates, hard freezes, watering habits, fertilizing, insects, disease, and shade cast from your house and other structures all affect the health of your landscaping, which in turn affects the look of your yard. Creating a healthy and long-lasting landscape means balancing all of these things along with the ideas of the client and the capabilities of the landscaper.

We understand that clients want things a certain way, but there are some realities of landscaping that cannot be changed. Shade plants can't be planted in full sun and tropical plants can't survive the winters of Santa Fe. When the landscaper tells you they cannot plant certain plants, it is because they are trying to look out for you and want you to enjoy your yard for more than one season.

The last and single most important thing to remember is the world could use more respect and kindness. Most of our clients are referred from previous clients, so the reputation of Desert Rose and Phil Madrid means the world to us - we do our very best on every project, big or small. Most landscape companies want to work with you to make your dream yard become a reality. At Desert Rose, we strive to please our clients, and Phil will always go above and beyond to make sure all of our clients are pleased with our services. We wish you health and happiness for 2022 and beyond!
