Plant of the Week 04/23/2021
Bluebird Lacecap Hydrangea
Hydrangea serrata 'Bluebird'
Zone 5-9
Thick, forest green foliage provides a beautiful backdrop for the unique, bicolored flowers. Clusters of lacy, lavender-blue "pre" flowers cover the center while white, tender flowers appear to add an amazing contrast. Blooms on old wood so be extremely thoughtful about pruning.
Blooms from late spring through summer. Best colors appear in acidic soils. Plant in partial shade/partial sun. Water regularly and maintain lightly moist soil. A fast grower that can reach 6' tall and wide. Beautiful reddish fall colors.
