Compact Carolina Cherry Laurel Prunus caroliniana 'Compacta" Zone 8-10
Vibrant green foliage smells similar to maraschino cherries. Blooms cream-colored flowers that are also fragrant. Small inedible (toxic if eaten) berries follow the blooms. Handles all types of sunlight except full shade. A moderate grower that can reach 8-10' tall and 6-8' wide.
This shrub can be trimmed and shaped into a wide variety of designs. Tolerates heat, wind, and drought. Be mindful this plant can freeze during the winter months. Either insulate with heavy mulch or plant it in a planter and bring it indoors. Evergreen when brought indoors.
