Question of the Week: Ants Everywhere!

Q: I'm starting to see ants are EVERYWHERE! How do I get rid of them?

A: If you are noticing lots of ants in your yard, and in particular on your plants and trees, there is a good chance you have an infestation of something else…aphids. Ants are attracted to the "honeydew" left behind by the aphids, as well as harvesting the aphids themselves.

Once you get rid of the food source, you will notice a significant reduction in ants. You can always spray a general pesticide for plants that will take care of both the aphids and the ants. As always, follow the directions on the pesticide and use proper personal protective equipment when using pesticides.
