A: Yes!

Leaving dead leaves around your plants is different than composting the leaves. When leaves are left at the base of trees and plants, it not only looks untidy, but it provides a safe place for pests and diseases to hide and grow (especially over the winter months. Also, a build-up of leaves and debris at the base of your plant can suffocate your plant.
