Transformation Tuesday: Desert Refresh with a Splash

This courtyard got a complete facelift. We removed the outdated gravel, aging water feature, and tight flagstone layout to make way for a cleaner, more intentional design. A new water feature now takes center stage, surrounded by a flowing dry riverbed and wider-set flagstone for a more open, natural feel.
To soften the space, we carved out a defined flowerbed against the house and planted a vibrant mix of perennials and shrubs—including Mojave sage, yarrow, coneflower, Gaillardia, spirea, potentilla, Karl Foerster grass, and a flowering crabapple tree. The result: a courtyard that feels fresh, peaceful, and built to thrive in the high desert.
