This week’s Transformation Tuesday highlights a complete backyard overhaul that brought structure, texture, and color to an underused space.
We began with site prep and drainage planning, installing a pipe beneath the landscape block to connect the canale runoff to a new dry riverbed lined with 2–4" river rock. From there, we installed flagstone steps and a lower patio area, adding both functionality and flow to the yard.
Pueblo Rose gravel, paired with weed barrier, created a clean and vibrant ground cover, while bark mulch was used in the flowerbeds to retain moisture and reduce maintenance.
To bring the landscape to life, we planted a rich mix of trees, grasses, and perennials including Flowering Plum, Karl Foerster and Miscanthus grasses, Spirea, Smoke Bush, Cotoneaster, Sand Cherry, and a variety of blooming perennials.
The result? A dynamic, low-maintenance landscape that’s ready to grow and evolve beautifully with the seasons.
