Plant of the Week 04/10/2020

Manhattan Euonymus Euonymus kiautschovicus 'Manhattan' Zone 5-8

Dark green, semi-round leaves provide dense foliage that works great as a privacy barrier. Tiny white flowers appear in late summer and are followed by pinkish-red berries in the fall. The berries are a great food source for birds during the fall/winter months.

Plant in full sun and water regularly until established. A fast grower that can quickly reach 8 feet tall and 5 feet wide. Evergreen and easy to care for. Tolerates average soils as long as they are well drained. Prune in the spring.

This plant is susceptible to euonymus scale (little white bugs on the leaves) so keep an eye out or use horticultural oils as preventative care.
