Plant of the Week: Chocolate Vine

Chocolate vine Akebia quinata Zone 4-8

A fast grower that can quickly reach 30' long and 2' wide. Purple-brown blooms cover the vine in spring, and produce a sweet, chocolate scent. For best results weave through lattice for maximum coverage.

Can also be used as ground cover. Plant in full sun for best growth but can tolerate partial shade. Water regularly. Cut to ground level in winter to keep this vigorous grower under control.
